Dear App Region men,
Some of you come to the Men’s Retreat every year, so you don’t need convincing. Some of you have never considered coming because you’re busy and unsure it’ll be beneficial. If that’s you, here’s why you should join us November 6-7:
To be equipped for the good works to which God has called you,
you need to read and respond to God’s word,
and this year’s retreat will teach you how.
Ephesians 2:10 says, “We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” You have good works to do, but they aren’t easy.
It’s hard to be a Christlike husband, respectable father, wise son, encouraging brother, diligent worker, and fruitful church member. Our enemy makes sure of it.
If we’re doing a good job at work, often we feel like we’re failing at home. When we figure out our families, often we feel like we’re dropping the ball at church. Our calendars are crowded, our lists are long, and everything keeps breaking. We carry more temptation and distraction in our pockets than our ancestors saw in their entire lives. A lot of the time we feel outmatched, so we give up and accept a sort of minimum mediocrity rather than doing our best for God’s glory.
How can we overcome all of this? 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” God’s word equips us for God’s work.
This year’s retreat is designed to give you greater reverence for the word and a better approach to reading it. Lord willing, you’ll be more regularly and fruitfully engaged in personal Bible reading after the retreat than you were before it. And thereby you’ll find yourself ready for each day’s good works.
Register online or by mail and bring another man you’d like to see grow in this area with you.
In Christ,
